New Year’s Resolutions and a Day of Service

New Year’s Resolutions and a Day of Service

January brings a new year, and a new year often brings resolutions. At Lloyd EcoDistrict, our resolutions involve creating more connections in our community and finding ways to make the Lloyd District an even better place to live, work and play. In 2015, we’ll be expanding our Age-Friendly program to the Lloyd Center, and hosting our first EcoFair. We will launch a program to retrofit parking garages and parking structures in the district with high-quality, energy-efficient LED lighting, and we’ll continue to partner with Go Lloyd to help residents, commuters and visitors use active transportation.

National Night Out 2014
National Night Out 2014 was a great warm-up for our upcoming EcoFair.

What are some of your New Year’s resolutions for 2015? Maybe they involve walking or biking to work more regularly. Maybe your goal is to take public transit three days per week. Tell us about your New Year’s Resolutions by emailing me at alison@ecolloyd.org, or visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ecolloyd, and post your resolution there. Everyone who likes our page and posts a resolution will be entered to win a Commuter Prize Pack, courtesy of Lloyd EcoDistrict and Go Lloyd.

January is also an excellent time to reflect on what we’re grateful for, and think about giving back to the community. Volunteering on Martin Luther King Day is an excellent way to explore those opportunities. If you’re looking for a way to get involved, Hands On Greater Portland, a program of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, lists some opportunities on their website– click here for the link. Is your organization, family or friend group volunteering on MLK Day? Tell us about it on our Facebook page – we’d like to recognize you for the work you’re doing and share local opportunities with the rest of the Lloyd District. (You’ll also be entered to win that prize pack!)

Whatever your MLK Day plans or New Year’s resolutions are, Lloyd EcoDistrict wishes you a happy and healthy 2015!
