Students from Catlin Gabel and their solar powered charging stations
Since July, Lloyd EcoDistrict has been working with Right 2 Dream Too (R2D2) to help them find solutions to getting their new site set up after they were relocated from downtown Portland. The emergency shelter, or “rest area” as it is known, serves up to 100 people every night. Their mission is to provide a safe place for people to sleep undisturbed.

Our “Sleep and Recharge” campaign works in partnership with ebay Portland and Catlin Gabel School to meet two of R2D2’s immediate needs: 80 new high quality sleeping bags and 10 solar powered charging stations. These charging power stations or “juiceboxes” were developed by Solomon Olshin, a junior from Catlin Gabel, and his team (seen above).

ebay has a month to fundraise $4,000 for the sleeping bags and the juiceboxs.

Upgrade to LED lighting for better productivity!
How much do workplace environments effect productivity?
Quite a lot actually
– lighting which appears more blue (also known as high correlated color temperature) is most similar to sunlight and can substantiallyincrease alertness,
well-being and work performance
in office environments. Conversely, exposure to this “blue” light in the evening can throw off your sleep schedule, causing too much alertness.

This is one more great reason to upgrade to LEDs! With a range of colors available, and excellent color stability, LED lighting can really enhance the workplace, and be a draw for tenants. Considering upgrading to LEDs? LAMP makes it easy and affordable.
