It’s been a big year at Lloyd EcoDistrict!

With the solstice this week and the new year around the corner, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together in 2022—and what we’re looking forward to in 2023.

Our 2022 in numbers:

  • 1 intersection mural at NE 2nd & NE Clackamas repainted by volunteers (spanning 8 decades in age)
  • 2 new resources released to support community health in extreme weather events, including resources to prepare for extreme heat and bad air quality days
  • 3 emergency preparedness workshops as part of the Lloyd Prepares Challenge
  • 8 park cleanups at Peace Memorial Park and Holladay Park, including one attended by Mayor Ted Wheeler
  • 39 pollinator planters on NE Multnomah replanted with native pollinators by volunteers
  • 150+ attendees at the Keaton Otis Art Memorial unveiling
  • 300+ community members contributed to the EcoDistrict Certification process and helped Lloyd EcoDistrict become the first certified EcoDistrict in Oregon (and the 7th in the world)

… and much more! Check out our blog for fun photos and details from these events.

Why we’re excited for 2023:

  • The Lloyd EcoDistrict board will be announcing a new full-time Executive Director in early 2023
  • Model the Way is coming back in April 2023, where we’ll gather to celebrate sustainable leadership in Lloyd and beyond
  • We recently received grants from the Energy Trust of Oregon and the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management to expand our energy and resilience work
  • We’ll continue to implement programs and projects from our EcoDistrict 2030 Roadmap
  • We’ll continue to provide opportunities for volunteering and engagement from wonderful volunteers like you!

If you’d like to help us invest in Lloyd EcoDistrict’s important work leading into 2023, we invite you to make a donation here

Thank you for being part of making Lloyd a more equitable, resilient, and climate-prepared place to live, work, and play. We are grateful to do this work alongside you.

Have a restful and rejuvenating December, and we’ll see you in 2023!

Marta and Joshua,
The Lloyd EcoDistrict team
