Big Give Day – Win an E-Bike!

By Kristin Leiber

Hi Friends,

Warm greetings to all on this beautiful Wednesday! Today, I’m sharing two accomplishments from last year that we’re very proud of (and highlighting the type of work we’re here for in Lloyd!).  It’s a tale of community spirit and collective action, of how, together, we’re weaving a vibrant tapestry of sustainability and connection.

We rolled up our sleeves for the Lloyd Prepares Challenge Campaign Pilot. Imagine over 60 neighbors coming together, ticking off 130 emergency preparedness tasks to build a strong neighborhood ready for challenges. It was about more than just readiness; it was about solidarity, learning, and empowerment. We gathered for three pivotal trainings, shared emergency supplies, and supported one another’s businesses.

And in the heart of Lloyd, we took a moment to honor and reflect on the Keaton Otis Memorial Project. It’s a space that bears the name of remembrance, but it stands for our commitment to change and healing. We supported our partners, the Justice for Keaton Otis Collective, in holding visioning sessions that were impactful fusions of art, activism, and community dialogue.

The kintsugi art & plaque that now stands as part of Phase 1 is a testament to our collective resilience – a physical embodiment of finding beauty and strength in the aftermath of loss. As we successfully secured significant grants for Phase 2, we are fundraising to build a legacy.

We are now in the throes of transforming a street into a lasting pedestrian plaza, a testament to our shared dreams for a safe, sustainable, and connected district.

So, as we gear up for the Give!Guide’s Big Give Day (you can win a sleek 2024 Riese & Muller Nevo4 e-bike if you donate today – November 8), remember that your support is more than a donation; it’s a partnership in crafting a neighborhood that stands as a beacon of inclusivity and forward-thinking.

Let’s keep the conversations, the coffee chats, and the change coming.

Until next Wednesday,
