Rose Festival Porch Parade: Peace Memorial Park Chalking
The Portland Rose Festival PARADES have entertained and inspired our community and visitors from around the world for more than 100 years. Each year the spectacular floats, award-winning marching bands, talented equestrians, and colorful community groups perform for hundreds of thousands of parade-goers on the streets of Portland. This spring, the Rose Festival will continue to evolve these traditions finding new ways to celebrate community spirit and resilience, and to inspire hope.
Debuting under pandemic conditions in 2020, the Rose Festival Porch Parade welcomed more than 400 homes and gardens to the citywide event. This year people can decorate porches and yards with themes representing Rose Festival, local businesses and family fun.
Lloyd EcoDistrict is joining the fun and activating the space at Peace Memorial Park.
While you can come and check out the roses in bloom there any time at this time of year, we’re partnering with local artist Irene Ramirez to add pollinator and rose-themed chalk artwork throughout the park during the Porch Parade. Weather permitting – the chalking will be done on Monday, May 31st during our Memorial Day cleanup. To make sure you see it, stop by Peace Memorial Park soon after! We can’t guarantee that the rain won’t wash away the art before June 13th.
