Lights Out Lloyd

You can have a positive impact on your neighborhood – by reducing your nighttime light pollution!

Every fall, Lloyd EcoDistrict partners with the Audubon Society of Portland on our LightsOut Lloyd campaign. LightsOut programs raise awareness of the impact of nighttime lighting on birds passing through our city, where they can get off course and injured.

You can help reduce your nighttime lighting by taking one of the following actions:

The campaign also includes lots of fun activities for Lloyd residents, including bird themed photos booths at National Night Out and field trips to see the Vaux’s Swifts come home to roost in the Chapman Elementary School chimney.

In 2017, over 500 individuals made the pledge to go Lights Out during the fall migration period.
