The Lloyd EcoDistrict becomes an independent non-profit

In September, 2010, the US Government officially recognized the Lloyd EcoDistrict as an independent non-profit organization. Lloyd applied for status as an independent 501 c 6 organization. Briefly, a 501 c 6 organization has the same rights and responsibilities as other nonprofit organizations. However, charitable contributions to 501 c 6 groups are not tax deductible.

“This is a great step,” said Board member Rick Williams of the Lloyd TMA. The EcoDistrict had been operating as a special committee of the Lloyd Business Improvement District since its inception in July 2011.
