Message from Kristin Leiber, Our New Executive Director

By Kristin Leiber

Hello, Portland! It’s good to be here.

What an honor it is to greet you and introduce myself as the new Executive Director for Lloyd EcoDistrict! It is an incredible opportunity that speaks to my passions, skills, and desire to bring communities together in a sustainable way.

As a bit of background, my husband and I have relocated here from Texas to live out our values, seeking a place to call home with more walkability, sustainability, and access to nature. It’s important to me to be a lifelong learner and do-er, having spent the last 12 years as a CPA, an entrepreneur, a small business owner, a project manager, a foster mom, a community advocate, a community gardener, and a placemaker. In short, I love supporting mission-oriented and social impact work at a local level with good business sense and organization. Most recently, I served as Senior Project Manager for The Better Block Foundation, helping communities and their leaders around the world re-envision their public spaces through grassroots-level urban design.

It is my vision to continue the excellent work begun by the board and staff on the Lloyd EcoDistrict 2030 Roadmap. Layered over the initial measurements and our goal targets, this will serve as my North Star over the next several years as we support climate, resiliency, and equity work in the Lloyd neighborhood and beyond. I am encouraged by the progress Lloyd and the Lloyd EcoDistrict team have achieved already.

Currently, the team is hard at work on a number of initiatives which are detailed in this and forthcoming newsletters. Specifically, I’d like to invite you to attend our annual gathering, Model the Way, on April 19, 2023 where we will honor community members who have led the neighborhood through their actions and support in building a more sustainable, resilient and equitable Lloyd. Let’s gather together, meet one another, and celebrate the work accomplished and the work yet to come. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you there.

I am thankful for the opportunity to lead in Lloyd, and welcome the opportunity to engage with you around your goals for your neighborhood.
