What’s your Earth Month #MyPlanetMyPledge?

What’s your Earth Month #MyPlanetMyPledge?

As part of Earth Month we’ve decided to center our EcoTip focus on the #MyPlanetMyPledge campaign in which we’re partnering with Earth Day Oregon to make Earth day resolutions to help work towards a healthier planet.

The #MyPledgeMyPlanet campaign encourages participants to

  1. Pledge on a simple step they will take to work towards a healthier planet.
  2. Create a sign demonstrating that pledge.
  3.  Hang the sign in their window in hopes to potentially inspire a passerby.
  4. Take a picture of it and post it on social media with the hashtag #MyPlanetMyPledge.

Sound like something you’d like to get involved in? One way to do so is by taking a look at our previous EcoTips of the month, finding a tip that sparks your interest, and pledging to complete the action that the tip suggests. The links to the past EcoTips can be found below for inspiration along with the pledges and signs of a couple members of the Lloyd EcoDistrict team. So get out your markers and craft supplies and pledge away!

We would love to see our community join us in getting involved in this awesome campaign so if you have a pledge you’d like to share and think it might inspire others, post your sign to your Instagram or Facebook story or feed with the hashtag #MyPledgeMyPlanet and tag us (@ecolloyd)! By choosing to participate not only are you helping to work towards a healthier planet but those who participate and complete the above four steps, tag a friend in their post encouraging them to participate, and follow Earth Day Oregon will be entered to win a staycation getaway or another awesome prize, all of which are listed here!

Lloyd EcoDistrict Team member pledges:

  • Outreach Program Manager, Joshua Baker, decided to commit to something from last month’s article about pollinator garden tips: his #MyPlanetMyPledge is to plant at least two different native plants/flowers in his community vegetable garden plot to provide more habitat for pollinators.
  • Communications Intern Emma Butterfield’s #MyPlanetMyPledge is to put a sign on her door to remind her to always bring reusable bags/ a backpack for any type of shopping and to continue buying biodegradable waste bags to use for her dog instead of the plastic ones they offer around her neighborhood.
