Celebrating Earth Day in Lloyd

Celebrating Earth Day in Lloyd

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out in support of our Earth Day Cleanup! The help and dedication of volunteers make a huge difference in maintaining the vitality of Peace Memorial Park and Lloyd. In total, we picked up 300 pounds of trash! Shout out to those who also helped out with graffiti removal and painting the surrounding walls and fences.

Registration for this event filled up in record time, with 45+ volunteers coming from across Portland, including several teams from nearby businesses and organizations. Thanks to We Localize, RWDI, Northwest Housing Alternatives, Schnitzer Steel, and Osmind for gathering your team members this Earth Day!

Our volunteers contributed in a weekend full of Earth Day events put on by SOLVE. Across Oregon, 5,250 volunteers attended over 120 cleanup and restoration events, picking up an estimated 81,714 pounds of litter and marine debris. Way to go Oregon!

Extra special thanks to Way of Being, a local low-waste shop, for providing volunteers with fun goodies, including a reusable bamboo utensil kit and produce bags! Their emphasis on providing ethically and locally sourced low-waste materials for Portlanders is impactful in reducing our carbon footprint.
