You may have noticed that we have been sharing information for free workshops around town that provide informational experiences around pollinators, native plants, beneficial insects, and urban weeds. These amazing free workshops are provided by the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District (EMSWCD)! The EMSWCD is a local government serving Northwest Oregon’s Multnomah County east of the Willamette River. They are led by an elected board of five directors and several associate directors. All of their work is geared toward keeping water clean, conserving water and keeping soil healthy.
EMSWCD provides amazing resources to urban and rural residents, as well as businesses. They offer a native plant sale to enhance local habitat and help keep our land and water healthier, and provide tons of great information on ways that you can create a more resilient landscape in your community. On top of all that, they provide grants to help fund community-led projects that align with their mission and values. One thing we recommend, if you can, is checking out their yard tour or open house events. It’s definitely worth stopping by! |
