Severe Weather Shelter & Disaster Resource Center – Info Sessions & Trainings

Multnomah County and the Department of County Human Services (DCHS) are preparing to support potential warming shelter activities as colder weather approaches. With this in mind, DCHS is hosting several training and info sessions over the next month to equip volunteers with the knowledge and training to work in warming shelters.

During weather emergencies, Multnomah County opens life-saving Disaster Resource Centers (DRCs) across our community. These centers offer people—especially those who are at greatest risk of harm—safety, resources, and connection. They could include overnight shelters and daytime centers. Community members like you can support the County’s severe weather response when needed.
