Your Voice, Our Resilience: Help Shape the Plan for a Resilient Oregon
At Lloyd EcoDistrict, we believe that true community strength begins at the neighborhood level. Whether we are preparing for a major earthquake, navigating record-breaking heatwaves, surviving winter storms, breathing through wildfire smoke, or managing the impacts of a pandemic, our collective resilience depends on how well we know each other and how we support one another.
What is PRO?
The Plan for a Resilient Oregon (PRO) is a statewide initiative designed to improve our collective resilience and our ability to handle disasters. Developed by the Governor’s office, it defines its approach to resilience as building:
“The capacity of Oregon’s people, institutions, and communities to anticipate, mitigate, respond to, and recover from disruptions—whether natural, human-caused, or systemic—while safeguarding community wellbeing, trust, and opportunity for all, including those at greatest risk of harm.”
With this goal and approach in mind, the plan will directly inform the Governor’s recommended budget and legislative work for the next two years. It ensures that the state is not just reacting to disasters but actively preparing for them.
Why your input matters
Lloyd EcoDistrict is serving as one of the 10 Portland metro community-based organizations providing regular feedback to the Governor’s office on the development of this planning. We are proud to represent our neighborhood, but we (and the state) want to gather even more direct input from you.
The PRO Survey is the state’s primary way to connect with local communities to determine the most urgent needs. By sharing your priorities, you help determine where government resources go. This is an amazing opportunity to let your voice be heard and help inform Oregon’s government of your thoughts around emergency preparedness within your local community and statewide. Whether your concerns are about cooling centers during heatwaves or emergency communications during a storm, this is your chance to be heard.
Take action by April 15
Making a contribution to Oregon’s resilience is simple. Please take 10 to 15 minutes before April 15th to fill out the survey and help us build a safer, more prepared future for Lloyd and for all of Oregon.
