Sparking Change in Lloyd: Electrify Your Ride 2026 Highlights
In June, more than 100 residents, employees, and neighbors gathered at Hassalo Plaza for a hands-on afternoon of test drives and transportation inspiration. The 2026 Electrify Your Ride event offered a chance to explore how e-mobility can fit into daily life right here in the Lloyd neighborhood.
Attendees had the opportunity to get behind the wheel and onto the handlebars. Throughout the event, more than 20 people took an e-bike for a test ride or an EV for a test drive. Forth staff and local mobility experts were on hand to answer questions, explain different options, and share what is ahead in clean transportation.
The value of these test rides was immediately clear. We connected with one attendee who came specifically to test out a few different models and get their questions answered by our experts. That hands-on experience gave them the confidence to take the next step, and they successfully purchased their first e-bike through the PCEF e-bike program just last week.
The event had a fantastic atmosphere thanks to live music from the Summer Lunchbox Concert Series at Hassalo Plaza. Boy & Bean provided a great soundtrack in the plaza with their 1920s and 30s swing music. Free coffee, snacks, and great conversations rounded out an informative afternoon that brought together curious first-time EV riders, seasoned bike commuters, and sustainability advocates.
Why It Matters
Transportation is a leading source of carbon emissions in Portland. Transitioning to electric vehicles and e-bikes is an essential step in reducing our environmental impact and improving local air quality. However, making the switch to e-mobility can sometimes feel intimidating. By providing a low-pressure environment to test drive these vehicles and speak directly with experts, we aim to remove the barriers to adoption. Events like Electrify Your Ride empower our community with the knowledge and confidence to choose sustainable commuting options.
Thank You to Our Partners
We are incredibly grateful to all the partners who brought this event to life. A special thank you to Go Lloyd and Forth for partnering with us on the planning, and to Hassalo on Eighth for hosting us in their plaza. We also want to thank the Pacific Power Green Team who helped out at the Lloyd EcoDistrict table and Lime, B-Line, and Point West Credit Union for tabling and sharing valuable resources with our attendees.
As part of our broader commitment to transportation equity and sustainability, Lloyd EcoDistrict continues to offer CHAMP (EV Charging Advantage Member Program). This support program is designed for property owners and managers interested in adding EV charging stations to their buildings. If you are exploring charging solutions for your multifamily property, business, or lot, we would love to talk. Reach out to us at info@ecolloyd.org to learn more.
Together, we are working to create a more connected, resilient, and sustainable future for the Lloyd community.
