Bold Reuse & Trail Blazers – Big Wins for Sustainability in Lloyd

We’re thrilled to celebrate the recent success of Bold Reuse and the Portland Trail Blazers. The Rip City Reuse program, launched in 2022, has already eliminated over half a million single-use cups from landfills—equal to a whopping 27,000 pounds of waste. This season, they’ve expanded the program to include fountain beverages at all Moda Center events, making it easier than ever for fans at the Moda Center to join their zero-waste journey. Together, they’re proving that bold ideas can have bold impacts.

This isn’t just about numbers (though they’re pretty impressive!). It’s about setting a standard for sustainability that’s simple, effective, and inspiring. Through their partnership, Bold Reuse provides reusable cups that fans return after use to be collected, cleaned, and sanitized for future events. It’s a closed-loop system that keeps waste out of landfills and proves reusables are the way forward.

Lloyd EcoDistrict: A Microcosm of Bold Sustainability
Did you know the Trail Blazers are based right here in Lloyd? As active members of our EcoDistrict and supporters of our 2030 Roadmap, they’re helping us achieve ambitious goals like cutting landfill waste in half and growing reuse initiatives throughout the neighborhood.

Our partnership with Bold Reuse started small, piloting reusable products during local block parties. Today, we’re proud to give Bold Reuse’s retired products a second life through our Lending Library, where items like reusable cups and serving trays are available for free to the community. It’s a microcosm of the larger reuse movement happening right here in Lloyd.

When you combine efforts like these with local donations—like the folding chairs we recently received from the Blazers—the result is a neighborhood actively working toward a greener, more connected future. Every reuse initiative is a step toward reducing waste, fostering community, and achieving the bold goals in our 2030 Roadmap.
