Connecting Resources, Building Community: Lloyd Fair 2024 Recap

By Joshua Baker

The Lloyd EcoDistrict is thrilled to share the success of the second annual Lloyd Community Resource Fair! Held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Lloyd Center, this event brought our community together for a day of support, resource-sharing, and neighborly connection.

A Vibrant Turnout

With over 350 attendees, the fair had even more attendees than last year and was filled with energy and enthusiasm. The former Ulta space on the second floor of the Lloyd Center’s east wing transformed into a hub of information, assistance, and community spirit. It was wonderful to see a diverse group of community members, all eager to connect with the nearly 40 nonprofits, government agencies, and service providers present.

Resources and Services

Our partners covered a wide range of essential services and topics, including healthcare sign-ups, utilities and bill payment assistance, food boxes, legal aid, health and wellbeing resources, and emergency preparedness. The flu and COVID vaccines available at the event were in high demand – we ran out of vaccines! We’ll plan for more next year!

Fun and Inclusive Activities

We were dedicated to making the event accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Interpreters were available for Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese-speaking attendees, ensuring that language barriers did not prevent anyone from accessing the resources they needed. For our younger attendees, we had engaging kids’ activities, including painting pollinators, which were a hit!

A Special Shout-Out

We want to give a special shout-out to the Community Services Network (CSN) for being fabulous partners in co-planning and hosting the fair. Their dedication, hard work, and connections were instrumental in the success of this event. We couldn’t have done it without them!

Community and Gratitude

Events like these are not possible without the support of our generous sponsors and partners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our presenting sponsors: DPI Group, Lloyd Center, Care Oregon, and Comcast Internet Essentials. Our contributing sponsors, Dave’s Killer Bread, Energy Trust of Oregon, Multnomah County, and REACH, also played a crucial role in making this event a reality. Special thanks to the CDC for providing funding.

We handed out all the food we had, showcasing the need and the positive impact such events have on our community. Seeing everyone come together, support each other, and leave with valuable resources was truly heartwarming.

Looking Forward

The success of this year’s fair underscores the importance of community events and the collective effort required to make them happen. We are inspired by the turnout and the community’s enthusiasm, and we are already looking forward to next year’s fair!

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to the Lloyd Community Resource Fair. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient community.
