Portland Winter Light Festival: Lloyd Light It Up (February 2024)

The Portland Winter Light Festival (PDXWLF) is an annual event hosted by the Willamette Light Brigade, a non-profit arts organization. PDXWLF brings art, technology, and inclusivity together, invigorating Portland in the winter. With free admission, the festival fosters community and showcases captivating light installations, projections, and interactive displays, creating an immersive experience for all attendees. Information on PDXWLF events across the city here.

In Lloyd, join us for the ‘Lloyd Light It Up’ event, combining a light-up dance party and a family-friendly bike ride. If you’d like to join us for the dance party at NE 9th and NE Multnomah, it starts at 6:00 PM, lighting up the night until 9:00 PM. PopCartPDX and DJ Carlos set the stage with electrifying tunes, while Martyn & Keia offer delectable decaf coffee and hot chocolate. Lloyd Center amps the excitement with acrobats, snacks, glowsticks, spotlights, and essential restrooms.

If you’re feeling adventurous, join us on the bike ride and then the dance party! The fun begins with the Mural Reveal & Bike Ride at 5:30 PM at NE 17th and NE Weidler, showcasing the latest mural installed on the back side of Broadway Grill and Brewery. This special event features the Mayor’s office and Portland Street Art Alliance, celebrating local creativity from artist Damon Smith. After this, we will venture on a bike ride to see the major highlights of the Portland Winter Light Festival before ending up at the main attraction – the dance party!

PARK(ing) Day (September 15, 2023)

Friday, September 15, 2023 was PARK(ing) Day —a global, public, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people. With The Street Trust and Go Lloyd we transformed three metered parking spots at 9th and Multnomah Streets adjacent to Lloyd Center. For three hours, the spot was repurposed with a blanket of green turf, a makeshift doggie haven, some laid-back seating, and a few innovative cargo bikes tailored for pets.

Duckworth Summer Wednesdays (July – August, 2023)

Every Wednesday all summer in partnership with our friends at Human Access Project we held a party at Duckworth Dock. The Dock is a hidden gem nestled just steps away from the Burnside Bridge and Oregon Convention Center in Lloyd’s backyard. It was a chance for hundreds of people every week to dive into the best swimming hole in central city Portland, right on the Eastbank Esplanade. With lifeguards on duty, we kept everyone safe. And DJ PopCartPDX provided live tunes, to compliment the gorgeous sunset, and good vibes!

Lloyd EcoDistrict, Community Services Network, and community partners held a Lloyd Community Resource Fair. We had a variety of nonprofits, government agencies, community organizations, and service providers in attendance and providing information and free services.
