Hello – Emma Dryden here, Lloyd EcoDistrict’s summer intern!

This Thursday, we’re excited to continue our EcoDistrict Play Streets Tour with a Pet Costume Contest-themed Play Street on NE 17th Street between Broadway and Weidler from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Building on the success of our Sullivan’s Gulch Play Street Ice Cream Social, this event promises to be an “un-fur-gettable” time for all!

At the Ice Crem Social, we had over 90 people in the Sullivans Gulch neighborhood gather for free ice cream, crafts, and games. One of the highlights? Button-making! I’ve become a bit obsessed, and we’re bringing it back for this week’s event.

Special thanks to Sweet Curmudgeon for making such delicious ice cream, and to all the volunteers who helped put it together. The sense of community was undeniable, with so many neighbors sticking around to help pack up—what a testament to the friendly spirit of Sullivan’s Gulch and the greater EcoDistrict. Check out photos from the event below.

And the good news? We’re hoping to make the Sullivan’s Gulch/EcoDistrict Play Street Ice Cream Social an annual event. So count us to be back next year, offering even more opportunities for community bonding. We’re so grateful to everyone who came out last Sunday, and we can’t wait to see you again this Thursday at the Pet Costume Contest Play Street.

Your furry (or feathered, or scaly) friends could win prizes ranging from toys and treats to gift cards from local businesses. Plus, there will be snacks, crafts, and games for everyone to enjoy. These Play Streets events wouldn’t be possible without the support of PBOT, and we’re thrilled to announce that they’ll continue into the fall with our Pumpkin Patch Play Street on Holladay Street on October 26, 2024. Stay tuned for more details, and click here for all the info you need to join the fun this weekend!
